Travel Kit

When youโ€™re travelling, there is a balance between packing light, but also taking everything you need as well as some โ€œjust in caseโ€ remedies to be prepared. The good thing about homeopathy is that the doses are small, so you can take a good number of remedies and it takes up less space than supplements!
ย
Despite this, you still want to keep your kit small, and what you take depends on both where you are going and the availability of anything you might need while there – if you canโ€™t source something if you need it, you may want to take it with you.
ย
For my trip to Greece, it is just me and my Mum (yup, Iโ€™ve left the kids at home with my husband!), so I didnโ€™t need to pack quite as much as I do for a family trip.

ย
*My small kit that goes everywhere with me, thanks to Eugenie Kruger. It is her First Aid remedy kit and contains Aconite, Apis, Arnica, Arsenicum, Calendula, Cantharis, Hepar Sulph, Hypericum, Ledum, and Nux Vomica. (You can get one from www.eugeniekruger.com and she ships worldwide).
ย
*A Jet Lag remedy – my combination remedy contains Arnica, Coca, Cocculus, Aranearum tela, Melatonin, Pineal gland and vitamin B12, and I take it for 2-3 days before and after travel, no need for me to remember it on the flight itself.
ย
*Cocculus- when you havenโ€™t had enough sleep and you are sensitive to every little impression, irritable and nauseous, take Cocculus. Cocculus can also be taken to help with motion sickness.
ย
*Gelsemium- another jet lag hero. Everything feels heavy, fatigue, even your eye lids feel heavy and tired. Can also be useful at the first sign of a flu or slow onset cold.
ย
*Narayani Calming โ€“ an excellent remedy I find useful for anxiety, over excitement, or for sleep. It is a combination of Avena Sativa, Coffea, Humulus, Ignatia, Kali Phos, Passiflora, Sumbul and Valeriana.
ย
*Sol Australis โ€“ to help with exposure to sunlight. While we will be in the northern hemisphere I am still taking Sol Australis- there was one small proving which stated the symptoms were the same as Sol Britannica but more intense, so given we will be in Greece with a lot of sun, the more intense version is worth taking.
ย
*Belladonna โ€“ just in case of sunburn or sunstroke
ย
*Rhus Tox โ€“ ideal for muscle strains or injuries from overdoing it, Rhus Tox is stiff and sore, better for heat. Itโ€™s hard when they start to move, but better once they have got going, unless they overdo it again.
ย
*Ruta Grav โ€“ this works deeper than Rhus Tox, affecting the ligaments and periosteum, so is useful for sprains, or injuries to places like the shin where there is no padding, just bone. Like Rhus they can have injuries from overdoing it, but Ruta Grav has a feeling of weakness, and is better for rest.
ย
Lastly, I will be taking my last prescribed constitutional remedy.
ย
If youโ€™re heading away on holiday there are other remedies that you like to consider for your homeopathic kit:
ย
*Motion sickness remedies – Cocculus is useful, but Tabacum, Ipecac and Pulsatilla are also frequently indicated.
ย
*China if dehydration is a risk
ย
*Emotional support remedies – if visiting family or friends, or places that you used to live, consider whether grief remedies like Ignatia for grief, Pulsatilla for homesickness and changeable emotions or teariness, or something else would be indicated.
ย
ย
Iโ€™m also taking some supplements and other things.
ย
I always travel with a very small first aid kit, just in case. This includes a Tea tree and Manuka honey ointment for broken skin to help healing, and a tiny jar of Kawakawa balm as well for any skin irritation.
ย
๐‘บ๐’–๐’‘๐’‘๐’๐’†๐’Ž๐’†๐’๐’•๐’”:
ย
If there is a concern for travellers diarrhoea, then I always pack Charcoal capsules and a shelf stable Sacccharomyces Boulardii probiotic, which combined with remedies is usually very effective!
ย
Alternatively for constipation I pack Phloe, a kiwifruit based prebiotic and probiotic designed for preventing and treating constipation.
ย
Magnesium- useful for calming the brain but also for supporting the muscles after we have done more walking than normal. It comes in lots of different forms (which is another post in itself), I have a combination one that is Magnesium Glycinate for the brain with Magnesium Citrate.
ย
Electrolytes- itโ€™s going to be hot in Europe, and combined with walking around we may need electrolytes to help prevent dehydration.
ย
Just in case I have a small amount of Blis K12 oral probiotics, a Homeobotanical blend for first stage of colds, and some liposomal vitamin C sachets.
ย
I think that is more than enough! The list does vary by country and availability of supplements and remedies at the destination. In this case if I have missed something I will be employing google translate and visiting a local pharmacy to find what I need.
ย
ย
Finally there are ๐’•๐’˜๐’ ๐’๐’•๐’‰๐’†๐’“ ๐’•๐’‰๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ๐’” I will be travelling with:
ย
Compression stockings help keep blood moving and prevent swelling and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or blood clots. โ€œFlight socksโ€ are a low level compression stocking available in most pharmacies. I always wear my flight socks.
ย
EMF radiation is high in planes. I always travel with a small zone protective Orgonite device, and for long haul travel a personal pendant. I like the ones available at www.lifeenergysolutions.com/a2802
ย
If youโ€™re heading off overseas on a trip, safe travels and I hope this will be helpful.
